Baden wine route 2018

Our trip goes along the Baden wine route, starting in Basel and crossing the border to Germany, passing the Kaiserstuhl Mountains and finally reaching Kenzingen, where we find a nice place for the night at a winery.

Next day we drive through the hilly vineyards and find beautiful spots for making coffee breaks:

The winery Freiherr Roeder von Diersburg is our recommendation for buying excellent wine. And they have a beautiful courtyard as well:

In Baden-Baden we reach the starting point of the Black Forest high road going South. It's described to be one of the "epic drives of the world" (a Lonely Planet book).  We follow the Schwarzwaldhochstrasse, also known as the B500, up to elevations of 1000m. From there you have great views to the Vosges Mountains in France and to the Upper Rhine Plain:

Because we didn't find a nice boondocking spot along the high road (and in the national park its not allowed anyway), we had to go on a campground in Bad Peterstal. The campground was already full, so the landlord allowed us to park on the green. Since then he uses the following photo for his marketing.

Finally at Lake Schluchsee we find a nice boondocking spot for the night, before we are heading back to Switzerland.
